Reconfiguration of District Heating Network for Operational Flexibility Enhancement in Power System Unit Commitment

Massive adoptions of combined heat and power (CHP) units necessitate the coordinated operation system district heating (DHS). Exploiting reconfigurable property networks (DHNs) provides a potentially cost-effective solution to enhance flexibility by readjusting configuration for supply, which has not been addressed in literature. To address this issue, unit commitment considering electricity network (UC-CERHN) is proposed paper coordinate day-ahead scheduling DHS. The DHS formulated as nonlinear mixed-integer model DHN. make problem tractable, an auxiliary quantity variable introduced, reformatted linear energy flow approximation loss, where computational burdens are significantly reduced. Extensive case studies presented validate effectiveness accuracy approximated illustrate potential benefits method with respect congestion management wind accommodation.
